Flying Basics
Getting started with your drone requires patience. Here are the golden rules for your first flights:
- Start in a Wide Open Space: Choose a clear field with no trees, power lines, or people around.
- Keep the Tail Facing You: This ensures the drone's left and right match your controller's left and right.
- Master Hovering First: Before doing complex maneuvers, practice taking off, hovering steadily at eye level, and landing softly.
- Avoid Windy Days: Lightweight beginner drones easily get carried away by strong gusts. Wait for calm weather.
Maintenance Advice
Taking care of your drone extends its lifespan significantly:
- Battery Care: Never drain LiPo batteries to zero. Store them at about 50% charge if you won't fly for a while.
- Check Propellers: Inspect props before every flight. Even a small crack or chip can cause instability and motor strain.
- Clean the Motors: Use compressed air to blow out dust, sand, or debris from the motor bells after flying.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter problems, don't panic. Many issues are easy to fix:
- Drone Drifts to One Side: Place the drone on a flat, level surface and run the gyro calibration sequence (check your manual).
- One Motor Doesn't Spin: Check for hair or grass wrapped around the motor shaft. If clear, the motor might need replacement.
- Controller Won't Connect: Ensure the drone battery is fully charged, and try binding them again by following the exact manual steps.
